W czerwcu po raz pierwszy w historii, elektrownie atomowe, wiatraki oraz panele słoneczne wygenerwoały wiecej energii niż urządzenia generując energię z gazu i węgla. W kwietniu, po raz pierwszy od czasów rewolucji industrialnej,przez całe 24 godziny funkcjonowanie Wielkiej Brytanii oparte było na energii nie pochodzącej z gazu oraz węgla.
